LEED certification projects have been growing globally. The United States is currently leading the world in green building, and it appears to be a global imperative to go green. LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is a rating system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council in 1998 for the design, construction, and operation of buildings and homes. The United States ranks the highest with over 595 million gross square meters of LEED registered and certified buildings.
