HUNTERSVILLE, N.C.- The International Green Energy Council (IGEC) named Everblue a preferred training provider for its sustainability initiatives and rebuilding efforts for Hurricane Sandy victims in New Jersey.
IGEC, an educational and advocacy group for energy efficiency, environmental stewardship, and renewable energy, will advance its sustainability initiatives through collaborative efforts with the New Jersey Storm Recovery Center, the Green Job Corps, the State of New Jersey and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
FEMA dedicated federal funding to rebuild homes affected by Hurricane Sandy and help local homeowners overcome financial struggles related to the natural disaster. The IGEC partnered with the ATru Builders of New Jersey to create the New Jersey Storm Recovery Center, which will use the FEMA funds and insurance monies to spearhead the rebuilding project for homes and businesses all along the New Jersey Shore.
The main goal of the IGEC and the New Jersey Storm Recovery Center is to incorporate sustainability efforts into the rebuilding process. The renovated homes will address issues with energy efficiency, weatherization, and mold remediation. To accomplish these goals, the IGEC named Everblue its preferred training provider for home performance auditing training.
Everblue, one of the nation's leading sustainability training companies, will provide Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) and Building Performance Institute (BPI) weatherization training for IGEC through the Green Jobs Corp. Students will learn how to preform home energy audits and how to optimize a home's energy efficiency through weatherization techniques.
